In January of this year, Will was tasked with bringing his knowledge of music production to the Young Technicians Academy in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire. The Academy is due to open on the 4th of August 2021 and aims to provide young people the opportunity to further their skills in a variety of subject areas. The academy plans to offer Live Sound, Theatre, Lighting and now Music courses, to those aged between 9 and 18.
Completing his final year of Popular Music Production study this year, at Solent University, Will has created three courses for the academy. Music Production 1 will give students an introduction into the world of recorded music, encompassing music theory, technology and practical skills. Following the introductory course, Will has created Music Technology 1. This course is tailored to the technological side of the industry, where students can learn how to professionally record musicians and develop their own unique sound as music producers. His final course, Music Performance 1 will take young musicians and put them through their paces to become self-sufficient as they emerge from the academy as freelance artists, with all the necessary skills to survive in a tough industry.
The classes will begin during the summer and be held over a span of 44 weeks, as one hour sessions each week.
Will says; "I'm really glad that the academy is happy with the courses I have created. I hope that the work I have put in is able to inspire young people who love music, to pursue a career in something they love doing."
David Carr, general manager at the academy said; "Myself and Pino (Managing Director) were extremely pleased with the course content and anticipated delivery. We are delighted to announce that Will is going to be continuing his work with us as a full-time teacher at the academy."
Any advancement for the education of young people is great to see. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the academy for their summer school programs, including Will's, head over to the Young Technicians Academy website to book your place.
